never ever under any circumstances order a wedding dress on the internet. lots of people do this successfully, and they have good luck. At least this is what i am told. My daughter is getting married and we figured let's try. we ordered from a company that was highly recommended. we dealt with a new york office and they were fine. the dress we received was not what we had ordered and it looks like i made it. since i can not and do not sew, you probably have a good idea of what i am saying. the lace on it is unravelingand actually falling off. the hem is messed up. The flowers in the picture look nothing likethe huge ugly ones on the product. we ordered a short sleeved one and got a strappless model. The add said maternit dress. A sex worker would actually feel right at home in it as there is no room for stomach expansion. it was supposed to have laced up the back. it zips. i called them today and was told to return it to some address in shanghai, china. The folks in new york won't accept it oh yes and it has to be shipped first class. guess what? the cost of following there procedure is more than we paid for the stupid dress. so i just threw the money down the toilet and flushed. oh happy day. guess i was a sucker which is also extremely humiliating as i pride myself on not being one. think i'll go punch my pillow. thanks for reading this.
Granted, I don't wear dresses, and could never see myself paying a huge amount of money for clothing. But being that this is a wedding dress, it's understandable. I would never recommend getting any clothing online, as it's always best to try things on before buying them. I did get a bathing suit from the 60s via Ebay, but even then, I was taking a gamble. Thankfully, it worked out. Second, since it is for such an important occasion, I would personally check that it wasn't made in China. Most things from there are garbage, regardless of the type of product.
That said, what these people did to your daughter was wrong and inexcusable. Even if the quality wasn't the best, they should never have given you something that cheaply made, which was completely different from the picture. You should definitely demand their money back, and if possible, report them to the Better Business Bureau.
tiff, i always buy clothes on line. of course i'm a perfect model for the size i use so i am usually able to fit into stuff. however, that being said everything you sugested we have done. thanks for your support
Sorry to be a prood but this idea of beeing able to buy all american made products and skip china well... might have worked in the earlier days but sorry not now. Working for the NIB ability one program I get this question a lot it gets annoying. You might as well take most of your electronics and toss them out the door. There not made in america any more, sorry done with the rant and now probly will get torn a new one. Oh well such as life!.
They don't have to be made in America. They can be made in Europe, and in the case of electronics, Japan as well. That said, these may help.

I could be reading this wrong, but I don't think her problem is so much that the dress was made in China and not America. I think the problem is that this so-called company put on a good face, and while trying to make the sale, acted like they were an American company. Then, once there were problems, now they won't deal with her, and are telling her to deal with the manufacturer in China that she never knew existed. I'd say the major deception and poor quality of the product is the issue here, not that it wasn't made in the US.
turricane, sorry to hear about this. That sucks.
I hope you get this stuff all worked out.
Good luck.
And then when you call the company for support you more often than not get someone who doesn't speak but a few words of English.
Oh wow. turricane, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. Planning a wedding is stressful enough and then to add dress drama. I hope everything gets worked out and your daughter has the wedding of which she's always dreamed.
it's always a risky thing. My wife bought all of her brides maid as well as her dresses from an online company in NY called RK bridal, this was back in 03, and fortunately, all worked out well, but she was terifyed until the last dress arived as expected.
Sorry about your disappointing experience!
I think it depends on the company. I know others will say differently but I've never had issues ordering from Amazon.com. Even on the rare occasion I've gotten a defective product it hasn't taken much to get it straightened out. THen there've been a few companies I've ordered from, gotten something defective and practically had to pull teeth only to still not have the issue sorted out.
That's because you call them up and instead of saying "can I help you?" They say "¿Can I hel you" English is a good thing.
And fewer and fewer customer service people can even speak a word of English these days. It won't be long before English is no longer the official language of this country.
Actually, America has no official language. that's one of it's major flaws.
Wow this is news to me.
